The Port Aransas Education Foundation (“PAEF,” “the Foundation,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Texas nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting educational excellence within the Port Aransas Independent School District. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you visit paisdfoundation.org (the “Site”), make a donation, register for an event, or otherwise interact with us, including through text (SMS) messaging.

By using the Site or providing us with your information, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or our services.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us and information collected automatically when you use the Site.

Information you provide

  • Contact and identity information — name, email address, mailing address, and mobile phone number.
  • Donation and payment information — donation amount, billing details, and payment method. Payment card details are processed by our secure third-party payment and fundraising processors; we do not store full payment card numbers on our own systems.
  • Event and program information — registrations, ticket purchases, auction bids, grant applications, and related communications.
  • Correspondence — information you include when you contact us or subscribe to updates.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage and device data — IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and dates/times of access.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — used to operate the Site, remember preferences, and understand how the Site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Process donations, event registrations, and auction or ticket purchases, and provide receipts and acknowledgments.
  • Administer grants, programs, and fundraising activities.
  • Communicate with you about your donations, events, and Foundation news you have requested.
  • Send text (SMS) messages you have opted in to receive (see the Text Messaging section below).
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the Site and prevent fraud.
  • Comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — trusted vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as payment processing, fundraising and event platforms (including OneCause), email delivery, and website hosting. These providers may only use your information to perform services for us.
  • Legal requirements — when required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of the Foundation, our supporters, or the public.

Supporter information collected for text messaging (SMS) will not be shared with any third parties. No mobile information—including your phone number, SMS opt-in, and consent—will be sold, rented, or shared with any third parties or affiliates for any purpose, including marketing or promotional purposes. The only exception is sharing with subcontractors that directly support and deliver the text messaging program on our behalf (such as our messaging provider), and those subcontractors may use the information solely to operate the program and may not use or share it for any other purpose.

4. Text Messaging (SMS) & Mobile Terms

PAEF offers a text messaging program to help supporters donate, participate in events and auctions, and receive related updates. This program is operated with our fundraising provider, OneCause. The following terms apply to all text messages we send from our dedicated toll-free number.

Program description

When you opt in, the Port Aransas Education Foundation text program will send SMS messages related to donations, event participation, mobile bidding, receipts, reminders, and Foundation updates.

How you opt in

You provide express consent to receive text messages by taking an affirmative action, such as texting a keyword to our number, entering your mobile number and checking a consent box on a Site form, or providing your number at a Foundation event. Consent to receive marketing or promotional texts is not a condition of donating or purchasing anything. When you opt in, we will send an SMS message to confirm your signup.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies based on your activity and the events you participate in.

Cost

Message and data rates may apply. Any charges are billed by, and payable to, your mobile service provider. Please contact your wireless provider with questions about your text or data plan.

How to opt out — STOP

You can cancel the SMS service at any time by texting “STOP” to our number. After you send “STOP,” we will send a message confirming that you have been unsubscribed, and you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. To rejoin, simply opt in again as you did the first time.

How to get help — HELP

For help at any time, text “HELP” to our number and we will respond with instructions and support contact information. You can also email us at portaransaseducationfoundation@gmail.com.

Carriers

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Privacy

Supporter information collected for text messaging will not be shared with third parties. No mobile information (including your phone number, opt-in, and consent) will be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for any purpose. Mobile opt-in data is used solely to operate this text messaging program and is handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

5. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. Payment and donation transactions are handled through PCI-compliant third-party processors using encryption. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including donation records required for tax, accounting, and legal compliance, and thereafter as required or permitted by law.

7. Children’s Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your Choices & Rights

  • Email — you may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any message.
  • Text messages — reply STOP to opt out at any time.
  • Access and correction — you may request that we review, update, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you by contacting us using the details below. We will respond consistent with applicable law.

9. Third-Party Links

The Site may link to third-party websites and services (such as our payment and event platforms). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” above and post the updated version on this page. Your continued use of the Site or our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
